Meet your Learning & Development Team
The Trust’s newly formed Learning and Development (L&D) Team aims to give you training course reminders, useful IT hints and tips as well as L&D Team news and updates.
Managed by Jay Caton, Head of Workforce and Organisational Development, the L&D Team comprises: Deborah Hammond, IT Training Manager; Sonia Orr, Organisational and Workforce Development Facilitator; IT Senior Specialist Trainers; Steve Doolan, Sarah Edwards, Nicki Littleford, Sandy Hill and Richard Pearce. The team is ably supported by four L&D Administrators: Kitty Briggs, Sylvia Jones, Rachael Burden and Lucy Jones.

At Mercian House, Oxon, Shrewsbury, we provide training on a range of clinical and non-clinical IT systems in use within our Trust, the prison service, the PCTs and GP practices. We also provide Microsoft Office skills and Project Management training as well as offering drop-in practice sessions for staff to enhance their IT skills. Kitty Briggs co-ordinates all training and activities delivered out of Mercian House.
Workforce development is provided by Sonia Orr who offers facilitation and support for both mandatory and non-mandatory subjects. These include: Leadership Development Programmes; Personal Development courses; Effective Communication training and Team Building sessions. Administration support for this area of the team is provided by Sylvia Jones, Rachael Burden and Lucy Jones who are based at William Farr House and manage the mandatory and non-mandatory training systems, as well as providing advice and support to staff accessing these systems.
