Overview of service
Help 2 Quit is the free NHS stop smoking service in Shropshire – you are four times more likely to quit with our help than if you attempt to stop smoking on your own.
Specially trained Help 2 Quit advisers (including practice nurses, midwives, pharmacists and school nurses) are available in venues across the county to help you to put your plan to stop smoking into action. Your first Help 2 Quit appointment normally lasts 30 minutes, then your Help 2 Quit adviser will provide all the help and support you need during the 12 week programme.

Where is the service provided?
Help 2 Quit is available in almost all GP surgeries in Shropshire – simply ask at your GP practice to see the Help 2 Quit Nurse. Help 2 Quit is also provided in many:
- Pharmacies
- Community venues
- Schools
- Hospitals
- Prisons

Help2Quit in Pregnancy
Smoking during pregnancy can be extremely damaging for both mother and child. If you are pregnant, our Help 2 Quit Nurses and pregnancy Support Workers can give you, and your friends and family, extra help and support to quit smoking in a variety of settings to suit you. Simply ask your midwife to be fast tracked into the Help 2 Quit service or call Help 2 Quit on 01743 366940.

Referral and Self-Referral
You can refer yourself directly into the Help 2 Quit service or ask your GP or another health professional for a referral.
Alternatively, a new secure online patient referral form now makes it even easier to self-refer, taking that positive first step towards quitting.
